I just bought a chevy pick-up on Ebay with
VIN Number: GAA712705

Doors: 2 doors
Transmission: Manual Interior: Gray
Engine: 6 - Cyl. Year: 1946
Warranty: No
Title: Clear Exterior: Blue
Condition: Used Inspection: --
Does anybody knows the exact info of this truck ?

Not much info on the truck.
That VIN is not actually a VIN, although it is used as a VIN. That is an engine number, which was frequently used back then as VINs. It is from a 1949 216 engine, out of a sedan delivery. Hopefully you will find that number on the block just behind the distributor. If not, you may be in trouble, as it is no where else to be found on the vehicle.
Trucks back then had serial numbers, on a plaque, I believe yours should be on the firewall. But the serial number was not stamped into the frame or anywhere else on the truck.

Those pictures don't make it easy...

Based on the location of the spare tire I'm thinking its a long wheelbase, and therefore probably a 3/4-ton. But that's just a guess.

Check for a serial number plate on the cowl under the hood. I don't recall if its on the drivers or passenger side on one of those.

Is the passenger door missing teh lower skin, or is it just the way the light is hitting it?

Welcome to the stovebolt page. Not a bad truck given the year but a lot of information is missing. If you can have the seller take a picture of the passanger side cowling at the rear of the hood. The plate should be there if it hasn't been removed. Does it have a 3 speed or a 4 speed trans. Most of the 1/2 tons came stock with a 3 speed trans and the 3/4 tons were 4 speeds. On the plate should be a # that looks like (21DP02) Next to that should be 4 or so # 6110. The 1/2 tons were built on a 115 inch wheelbase and the 3/4 ton on a 125 1/4 inch wheel base. The 46 1/2 ton should be a CK or DP the 3/4 ton should be a DR on the build plate.
Hope some of this info helps.

Judging by the rear end, wheels and long bed, the truck is a 3/4 ton. The wheels will be 15 inch 8 lug split rims. Probably a model DR. I have one if you have particular questions.

That listing is a little vauge on the details.. i'd personally have needed alot more info than that before I ran the bidding up to $1500.. especially if I were also going to pay to have it shipped overseas.

At any rate.. it looks like a cool truck and a great project!

I agree on the rear end being a 3/4 ton and the transmission is a four speed. Also welcome to the best site around for stovebolters.
