The manual suggestion is a very good one. After ya get them, then you can start on the various areas of the truck.
What I like to do is deal with the safety things first: suspension, steering, brakes....stuff like that. Then I make sure the motor and transmission are healthy. After that I look at the electrical system. Eventually I get around to doing some cosmetic and hopup stuff.
I don't always follow my own advise, and sometimes an electrical bug will need fixing before I can check other things. But I think that general idea should get ya started.
There are pics of the transformation of my "Ugly Truck" into a rat rod (sorta) on my website in the sig. It's my daily driver and I really like it. It's goin into the muffler shop for some real live tailpipes tomorrow. The clamped on angle tips at the end of the Cherry Bomb mufflers ain't cuttin it. Sounds mean as hell, tho.
