i have a 1957 gmc, or so i think. the only pictures i have found on the internet that look like my truck are '56 models. my truck is a 9300 model which i'm told is a canadian model. any chance that the 57 canadian version looks the same as the 56 US? the difference is in the grill and bumper. my bumber is straight across but there is a second smaller bumper line that connects to the first, looks like a "D" on it's side. why is it that i can only find this style on the 56' trucks, and the '57's have just one bumber line? am i mistaken on the year of my truck?

our good friend Norselander has excellent ID pics of 55-59 chev and gmc, you can sneak inta his garage here and take a peek - the CDN versions are the same as the US, just different series numbers [9300 = ½T]

you might have a 57 that's had the grill changed, or if you've got the original title [or it's descendent ] the truck might have been sold right at the end of 56 and first titled in 57, as they used the year of first reg back then - my 57 panel was first reg'd in Jan 58 so titled as a 58

thanks for the good link. this is similar to what i was finding myself, my truck is like the '55 and '56 pictured. my bumper is painted but that doesn't say much.

so the thing to do is to find the vin# and decipher what year it is from that - paint or chrome just sez how much the original purchaser wanted to spend chrome was an option any year
