| | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 192 Member | | Member Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 192 | hey yall. will a 59 1/2 ton stepside box fit on a 50 3/4 ton 5- window? :confused: or should i mount the 5 window on the 59 frame? i think the frame would be longer cause i aint heard of a 3/4 shortbox. but i'mm really green at this. i have an opportunity to purchace the truck and it doesn't have a box. pricy 1000.00 for it and the eng is shot.but supposably ready for paint condition? 3 hour ride to look at her.living in the rust belt,very rare to find one not rusted out.says he's got a small ol truck junkyard  any help or suggestions will be appreciated.due to my back problems i havent started my 59 yet but i sure am learning alot from this site!!! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | Andre, the box design changed in 55 - the mount points may differ and as you suspect, the 3/4's were all longbox, so yer dealin w/ long vs short - could always make a flatbed out of the AD tho the AD cab wouldn't easily fit on the TF frame either - easier to head over to Sask and find a good TF cab! I seriously doubt it is ready to be painted, they might have some body work done and a coat of primer on, but think about it.... Who would go through all the trouble and materials getting a truck ready to paint, then just decide not to paint it? By that time, a person is very eager to see what it will look like painted. And at that point, all the hard work is done, spraying paint is the easy part, for an experienced painter. I'm betting you're going to drive 3 hours to be dissapointed. Just remember- primer camouflages a lot of flaws- beware. | | |
