For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 4 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 4 | I just purchased a 51 Chevy 3100 pickup. Ordered a shop manual, etc. I haven't been able to find the gas tank capacity for the truck. Even a 45 minute internet search has yielded nothing. Where do I find this out? Thanks | | | | | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 608 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 608 | Hi Dave, According to my 52 owners manual all trucks with a cab mounted tank were 17 1/2 gals. regards Steve sr. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 230 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 230 | Yep , 17 gallons it is ! after you've pushed it into the gas station a coupla times (man! these things is _heavy_!) you'll learn to watch how many gallons to fill and how fast it burns , leaks away .
I also notice a few stations seem to think I can squeeze 20 gallons into it ! . _surely_ the gas pump , being a computer marvel is always 100 % accurate , right ? .
