Fred, I don't think it works like that. In my experience, you have to specific with genies or they take advantage of you. If you say "Any pre-'50 Dodge," they'll give you some crushed, rusty, hunk of scrap '50 -- unless, of course, that's what you want...

You need to be specific. Trust me on this.

Ok Mr. Genie, I'll be specific:

1. 1955.2 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup (completely new and original) sitting in a $1 million 1000' x 1000' fully stocked automotive shop with all the tools/accesories required to maintain it.

2. 1956 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup (completely new and original) with the bed completely full of $1000 bills, with a total amount of $10 million.

3. 1957 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup (completely new and original)_________(okay, if I get the first two wishes, I'll be satisfied!)

Just like the tri-5's!

You guys sound like the old lady who rubbed the lamp, and got her 3 wishes from the genie:

Wish #1: 10 million dollars- - - -granted!

Wish #2: Brand new Cadillac- - - -granted!

Wish #3: "Turn my old Tomcat into a handsome stud muffin!"- - - -Granted! The virile young man smiled at the old gal, put his arms around her, and whispered in her ear, "Now, aren't you sorry you had me neutered last year?"

Be careful what you wish for, it might come true!

1. 1933 Chev. 1/2-ton PU in straight, rust free original condition. Faded paint, some surface rust and a few dents and dings please. The wire wheels should run true and not wobble when driving.

2. 1940 Chev. Suburban. Same condition as above, but please add some faded out old lettering on the doors with the name of a resort. Could I get a restored wooden fishing boat to tow behind, or is that a whole 'nother wish? They would be hooked together permanently, so maybe it can be counted as one?

3. 1940 Chev. or GMC 1-1/2 ton tow truck with a round back tow bed with factory twin booms. This should really be a Marquette or Holmes wrecker body. Please add faded lettering from an old repair shop/junkyard/gas station to the doors and box. Oh, and this one needs a strong 261 to do the towing.

Specific enough John? I can add more if it's not. I can see all of these pretty clearly if I shut my eyes you know.

Barry -- that might be good enough but you might want to consider specifying the make of the boat. Might I suggest a Peterborough from about 1959 or so.

Opps ... John had to run out. Someone has come to look at his old tractor he's selling. He put it up on the Southern Maryland internet and got a call in 10 minutes and the fellow wanted to come right away. And it's DARK outside. But he didn't want to miss this.

So ... I'm sneaking in on the computer while he's busy.

I don't know much about old wooden fishing boats, so yes, I do believe it is a '59 Peterborough that I am seeing in my vision hitched to the '40 Sub. with old resort lettering on the doors. You are correct.

Barry...consider a 1955 Thompson Thomcat, built in Peshtigo, Wis. It's a lapstake vee hull made of mahogoney plywood with a brass nut & bolt every 2 inches to hold the strakes together. It's got a solid mahogoney transom. Even though it's a little small for some trips, it's great on Lake Fausse Point, (very shallow), and Vermilion Bay, (very choppy at times). Thompson boats were consider some of the strongest hulls made. The company started in the early part of the last century building conoes, lauches and skiffs.
Wait...what was the question again? wink

I would be happy with the red and white '54 John has on the title page (and the genie has to buy it at John's price, not just take it away!), an A&W drive-in the way I remember them, and the wife I already have.

(I just think that's a really sharp truck John. I won't ask you to throw in the Grandkids, but it might be fun to borrow them from time to time... smile )

Brad, if you're getting an A&W where they hang the 5,000 pound tray of root beers on your 1/8" window glass and the root beer tastes 10 times better than it does now, I would like to request a good ol' fashioned gas station where I can pull my truck up to a pair of pumps and someone comes out and washes the windshield and checks the oil while the gas is pumping. After he's done, the attendant goes back to sitting on a chair by the front door, or goes in one of the 2 attached bays to finish a tuneup job.

BradB -- That truck on the index page (including the two children) are Kips! Maybe you can do some wheeling and dealing with him -- for the truck. I don't think the kids would be part of the deal. Plus, I think that picture is four years old already. Kips been with us for a long time!

IN order of coolness (all of which I've driven, and the first one is nearly achieving Nirvana with me!)

1951 Dodge M37
1972 Kaiser Deuce and a half
1967 Suburban (with the wood bed) - 327/AT/2WD.

Why only a 2X4 'burban? Because if I want to climb walls, I've got the other two!

http://www.angelfire.com/weird2/theoperative/academypics1.html

Deuce in the 1st picture (with my Military Officer driving a bunch of kids around), and me driving an M37 (my favorite one, BTW) 2 summers ago in the 2nd pic. Don't know who that guy is on the Howitzer, but it's a cool picture.

2. A 1962 Airstream Bambi to pull behind it.

Sorry guys, but Jeeps are just about the manliest thing out there when it comes to trucks. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but have you heard about fully loaded late 70's Cherokees? Dana 60 axles, an AMC 401, locking front hubs and 32" tall tires. What's that about real trucks?

Thanks guys. When it comes to 4x4's, Jeeps are my biggest passion. IMO, the old Willys and AMC jeeps are the most versatile trucks on the market. Look at any 4 wheeling magazine, and you'll be shocked at the number and designs of the Jeeps that people are building now. There's a guy on www.inliners.com that built an old AMC jeep to do mud racing with a 4.0L fuel injected motor. 0-60 times are in the 4 second range on mud, and slower on the track because on pavement, flooring it raised the front end 4 feet in the air!

If any of you guys have any questions regarding Jeeps, flathead Dodge military trucks or Oldsmobiles, send them my way.

Jim Bow, I like your shoice of the Luscombe. I learned to fly in a '46 (no surprise there!)

And if anybody is wondering, its all about pickups, 'cause you pickup the inertia of the air with the propeller to move the airplane forward which increases the airflow above and below the airfoil surfaces and that will pickup the airplane and make it go up into the clouds!

Now, Genie, I want a '42 4 X 4 in great, original, but not purfect, shape, 'cause I don't want to be afraid to drive it all over that West Texas property that is my second wish, along with the $100,000 a month in perpetuity (tax-free) that is my third wish!

I will take one each of the following restored pickups

1938 Chevy 1/2 ton
1946 Chevy 1/2 ton
1948 Chevy 1/2 ton

If the Genie was feeling generous, a 39 or 40 would be great so as not to leave them out.

I'd just have the genie put my '40 and my '59 back to what they were at about 20,000 miles.
For the third I'd ask for a 2010 Chevy half ton now, so I'd have the only one for five years.
