I was wondering which header fits best in a 59 apache with a Chevy small block and side motor mounts.
I was thinking Headman street rod (block hugger type) or the street header.
Any suggestions?

Greetings from NH. Can't stay away from the Stovebolt! When my bro-in-law put a 350 in his S-10 Blazer, Headman's were the only way to go to clear the steering box and hug the block. This is a good option (plus I can arrange a look-see if you're interested).
If you have room, you can save money with some salvaged stock GM products instead. What's important to you, look or $$? | | |

I'll grab the block huggers unless I hear otherwise on the BOLT. If they won't work - then I'll figure something else out. Thanks for the hint.

They rated HPC (High Permormance Coatings) block hugger headers as very good header. They are very short but where room is a premium they work exceptionally well.
Also a indication which I like is .400 thickness flange compared to .300 for budget headers. HPC phone 801-262-6807

My first choice were the stock manifolds which drop below the plugs, what I learned as Chevelle-style manifolds. Great on the drivers side, but on the passenger side the manifold dumps directly into the crossmember, so I nixed that plan. I bought a pair of block-huggers from Summit Racing, but discovered that I can barely slide a dollar bill between the starter and the header collector flange. Plan C is a different set of headers which drop straight down from the heads, and discharge under the transmission cross-member. Looking for recommendations from the audience. | | |

Then you can bring the exhaust pipe up to it but below the transmission crossmember. I haven't got that far on my 59 but hope to have engine installed this spring then I'll know more about the subject.
