How can I clean a engine with caked on grease and dirt.
I tried engine degreaser and it works a little.
What can I use?

I have always had the best results by trying to scrape off the caked on grease with a putty knife and a wire brush. Unless you use high water pressure, de-greasers will not remove caked on crud.

Get the heavy stuff with the putty knife and then follow with the de-greaser.

Well here is a solution if the engine is not in the truck . Ez-Off Oven cleaner. Dont laugh , It works.

But be forewarned it will take off everything, I mean everything off. Including nice shinny paint.
Do not get this on your paint!

Call me even crazier but strong paint stripper works great. But of course it strips paint also. Brush it on the engine let it sit and rinse it off.

I would go along with 53 4 me's suggestion, except I like to use " Castrol Super Clean".
Easy-off is cheaper, though...........it's just kerosene and lye..........
Don't get any of the above mentioned products on your hands, it will eat them up big time!
