Go to http://www.archive.org/ and do a search for "www.stovebolt.com" and everything is there for your reminisence (sp). Way back in 99 it was the Stovebolt Publishing Company with an address in KY.
Hey Poobahs, whats the history ?

Checked it out. All the topics I tried wouldn't load. Probably better left buried. All the good truck stuff can be rediscussed here anyway. I would have liked to copy the jokes before they went away, though...

Wow, this place as certainly transformed... I guess i'll have to dump my 1977 and get the 1969 I've been looking at.

A little history... John and Peg started the Stovebolt Page back in '95 or so when they were in Hawaii and their '39 was still back in Indy. John originally wanted to have a small site for '39 pickup owners and to double the size of the site (!) also included '40 trucks since they are very similar to '39's. Having a site that only included (2) years of trucks greatly limited it's users, so he then expanded it to cover other years of GM trucks. It really started to grow then (late '90's) and about that time John and Peg moved to Kentucky to work with horses. After a few years there, they moved to Maryland. In the past 9 years or so the Stovebolt has been through at least 3 different formats of boards and a few different servers. Throw in a couple bad storms with lightening hitting Peg's computers and you can see the ol' Stovebolt has been through alot, and still keeps on truckin'. Hopefully the latest rule changes will bring it back to it's former position as "THE" place to go on the net for old GM truck info.

Wow, Barry thanks for the "summation." And Barry was there from the beginning, so he would know.

Someone asked a while back about the history of the site and John started writing. There are some fascinating stories about it all. Hopefully this winter, he can get back to it.

And Jim Bow -- wow -- I tried your link. It was NEAT to go back and see the old pages again -- in color yet. I did print out some after I did them, to make sure I didn't repeat myself. But they didn't format well on hard copy. So, it was cool to go into the wayback machine and see some pages from 1999!! Thanks for that.

But, yes. The Lounge topics are in there but no actual lounge data. It's really gone.

And as some have said - there were some good discussions and the ones that pertain to trucks, can be written up as tech tips and put on the site. That, too, is something to work on ...

Okay Barry -- sound the rallying call: THE Stovebolt Page! Keep on truckin' !!!!!!!!!!

grin grin

I vunce haad a faaarm in AAAAAfrica....

Take me home, country roads, to the place I belong, Waimanalo, Windward O'Ahu...oh take me home, Country Road.

Ah, that country road was actually named Kalanianiole Highway. And the first edition of the Stovebolt Page was created intbetween planning assaults across Bruddah Iz's ashes on Waianae Beach and taking care of Belgians at the Honolulu Polo Club grounds...

Our first URL was http://www.aloha.net/~skipper

That was November, 1995.

Sigh...

John
