Hey guys,,i know this sounds corny,,but we have these old chevy trucks,,why don't we play some Arty shaw.Glen miller,or Tommy Dorsey in them,while wer'e Driving them...??,I think it would be Cool,,,like when our dad's were driving them,,like its the 40's.0r early 50's...I know im going to when i get my 50 on the road again..

I do! I've got Sirius satellite radio and there's a channel called "Swing Street". They play all that stuff and even better stuff like Chick Webb and Count Basie. It's excellent. That channel alone is worth the monthly fee.

I have a 70 fleetside, and one of my goals is to eventually install an original factory 8 track and find some Pink Floyd, BTO, Credence, Hendrix, and other 8 track tapes that work.

This sounds funny, but I think it'll work:

I want to find an old classic radio for my 64, even though it won't work. I'll clean and polish it, and install it. The trick though, is that I have a CD and FM radio mounted under the dash. I can then talk to some of the Electrical Engineering kids up at school, and get them to rewire it, making the controls from my "classic" radio head down to the FM/CD. Of course, it won't directly match everything, but most things it should. (if not, I can just reach under there and push it)

Funny this topic should come up. Last night here I am minding my own business, sitting at a red light A car full of kids pulls up next to me has the sound system shaking my truck.I told the WARDEN ( she was sitting next to me ) I would like to build the biggest loudest sound system this side of mars and put a bubble machine back there and ride around by all these kids playing Lawrence Welk.( I don't care for old LW, but I sure don't want to hear *&%^$#&*)( ) Hey I just got a brilliant Idea, How about one of you electrical geniuses figure out how to make something that can blow up those kids radios when they are next to you? we could make a fortune.

I've got an underdash Muntz 8-track in my '66 Coronet. What I'm doing this winter is to install a new AM/FM/CD in the glove box, along with a few additional speakers that are completely hidden. I want to go to a show with a Hendrix or Beach Boys 8-track in the player and make it look like that it's coming thru the 6x9 speakers in the rear shelf, but have the same CD in the glove box, going thru about 800 watts worth of amps. Say "Look, who says those old 8-tracks don't crank!"

That`s exactly what I do all the time.

Ralph, there's a ton of Bob Wills on cd. Everything from The Light Crust Doughboys on up to post Tommy Duncan.
Check Amazon. If you do a search on there and/or click on certain cd's, they'll show ya other recommended stuff or stuff that other people have bought in addition to. Kinda like, "Hey if you like this, then try this". I've discovered some other cool western swing this way.
And while I'm at it, if you like Bob Wills, check out his younger brother, Billy Jack Wills. Good stuff!

i put my xm on the sixties channel at cruise ins.you can find a 64 radio on ebay.ive seen several.

With a few dollars worth of ham radio equipment installed in your truck, you can key up a mic and whatever you say will come out of the kids system.

Of course, thats a quick way to loose your ametuer radio operators licence.

I've heard of a guy using a high power amp and transmitter to "jam" remote control airplane signals when the people were buzzing his house. They found out it was him and he ended up facing criminal charges.

Of course, in some areas there are noise ordinances, so building a monster system in your truck to out power the "ugga bugga" music would probably just land you a ticket.

Thats why I like living out in the country. Only noise I hear is the occasional cattle "moo" and the humming of distant Farmall M's.
