In case some of you missed it in the October newsletter -- and a few hints of it here and there (I know people have been asking about this for over a year), the It Ran for 2004 contest is on !!

If you're not interested in the fame and glory that comes from being in the FIRST It Ran calendar, go ahead and send in your digital. Be sure to include the other requested information and your caption.

I'm working on some of the submissions now ... plus some of the prizes that have come in. I think you all will be pleased. I know I'm excited ... may have to submit one myself :p

Ah ... two of my favorite people.

Joker -- no, you don't have to own the vehicle -- just be the one who owns / has the picture. Something you took when out and about, doing the cruise around thing - spotting every old truck in eyeball shot.

Ben -- I'm awaitin'. I knew your's was coming. I'm anxious to see it.

The chrome plating prize is niiiiiiiiiiiiice, eh? I know LOTS of people who can use that ... fer sure.

We are even working on a possible "guest forum" with them so you can get a lot of your plating questions answered. Would that be neat or what?

Check about Saturday p.m. I should have some of the submissions up on the site by then. I'm trying not to get ahead of myself here and then make a big mess. Gotta run now.

Naw not grumpy, do not ask Maws, just between the kids and young bucks at fire dept popcorn took ahold and stuck. Of course its a lot better than Cornball!! hehee popcorn The Truth is Out There (and thats the truth)

Only 9x12 prints sent thru regular mail, correct?

Sorry that this wasn't very clear. Can't you read my mind? :rolleyes:

You don't have to send a 9 x 12 through the mail. An original photograph can be scanned at whatever resolution we need to make it into a 9 x 12 (or even bigger ) -- that was part of the need for the original photograph. Plus the fact, then, that we knew YOU took the picture and just didn't scan something from a magazine or ... hmmmm ?? ... another calendar!

However, the images that do come in via email, probably won't be able to be printed in the calendar because we can't validiate them as not being copied. Also, only a few have the resolution (300) and size 9 x 12, that we need for the bleed on the calendar page.

So, if you've got some cool photos that would work in the It Ran 2004, go ahead and send them in. Be sure to include the other info from the rules page (name, etc.) so we'll have that.

I'll have to change the write-up in the rules page so this is clearer.

i haver a picture of an contestant on the webshots page. (koolkar100) but don't know how to get it from there to here.

If I have read the rules correctly, a photo of any brand, make or year of truck is allowed, so long as it is in IRWIPI condition?

And I am also assuming that you calender will be nothing but IRWIPI photos.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, don't worry, I'm used to it.

Yup. Any make, brand or model. It just has to be a TRUCK and, well ... look a mess at the time the photo was taken. If you look at the submissions from prior years, you'll see. I don't think we had any (or many) submissions that missed the idea of what we were looking for. Or at least missed by much. Creativity is a big factor. In 1999, third place went to a fellow who submitted a "little truck." It was very clever.

And ... golly, for those four years, it will still a lot of fun - and that's the idea. Making the calendar makes it a little different for all of us.

But remember ... we will have more than just the It Ran calendar for 2005. We hope to do others. But first things first!

Seriously, I just want to be sure everyone gets to participate who wants to (and Kool - we got your neato photo) and we are as clear as we need to be.

Ben! Got your photo in the mail over the weekend! Totally cool. Should get it scanned by tomorrow and hopefully, up with the others by Friday.
