I've been watching from the back blocks for some time now. I've just been lucky enough to get a 1941 Chev half ton flatbed. The PO had an accident and wasn't able to drive the Chev for any longer than a few minutes at a time, so he had to reluctantly put it up for sale.
It has the original 216, 4 speed box, torque tube and 4.11 rear end. It has undergone a nut and bolt restoration. The motor has insert bearings, alloy pistons and has been bored out 0.060. It's been converted to 12 volt and has an alternator.
I've still got a few jobs to do. The door locks don't work, neither does the fuel guage. I also need to build a couple of polished timber storage boxes for the tray, fit a couple of auxilliary plugs for hazard lights, look at fitting seat belts. Thanks must go to Dusty for his advise before I bought the truck. It's going to be a daily driver. I'm sure that I'll have a thousand questions to post to you guys.

Only the female of the species bites ( mozzies that is ). The truck was built in Oz. The body was built by Holden and is a little different to the cabs built in the States. It was originally an army vehicle and was sold to a farmer after WW2. The PO bought it off the farmer and restored it over a ten year period. So I'm the 4th owner in 63 years. Not bad. I'll be keeping it until it will eventually pass on to my young bloke.

You might want to do the Google search (on the front / home page) for "Holden" ... be sure to push the radio button for the site. There's 18 pages that come up, including the Austrailian War Memorial.
I think you'll get a lot of info from that search.

Thanks. I'm a bit slow at trying new stuff. We had the last search engine on the site since we started !! Duh. It was What U Seek. Not even sure if they are around any more.
I've been using the Google when people email questions and I've been pretty well pleased at what comes up. Also, tho ... I see things we need to fix. :rolleyes:
Speaking of trying new stuff -- we didn't switch over to Netscape 7.1 until about a year ago. We were still running 4.7 !!

Anybody hear of it ... or hear it?
I didn't dare download it.

We need a stovebolt song but I bet this one has nothing to do with old iron.
