I was curious as to what some of you guys do to insure the vehicles that you spent so much money on? Atleast with my insurance comapny if it was fully insured and it was totalled they would give me blue book value. Obviesly that wont do. So I am suposed to get classic car inssurance. Do you guys have that as well? Who provides it for you? thanks

I use Haggerty. The price is right. They seem to have a good reputation. I haven't filed a claim with them but I feel like they'll make my car right if something happens. Not so many restrictions as some of the others.

I have my 46 1/2 ton and my 69 vette insured with
State Farm. About $320 for both, with full coverage. Vett $18,000 P/U $12,00 Both have to be
under lock and key. Also only 3,000 miles a year. Hope this helps Ed

I've got Hagarty's on my old cars and trucks. I had three cars get totally destroyed and two more were damaged by a tornado two years ago, and they came through right away on the claims on all five.

I currently have Geico on the truck, but have spoken with State Farm about their classic insurance and it sounded pretty good. Have a friend that insures with Farris Insurance (www.farrisins.com) and he swears by them. Guess it's all in the best coverage you can get for the best price.

Whatever you get make sure it's "agreed value". You and the insurer agree on the value and you pay accordingly. Provide proof that this old truck is not your primary transportation and take some good pictures on film. Thats about it.

NO limit on mileage ... my truck is insured for $25,000.00 with $100,000.00 liability, for $190.00 per year.

Look at the coverages for each feature of the various policies/companies that you are considering. Where I live, State Farm could not even come close to cost, amount of coverage, and driving flexibility (I could only drive to car events - shows and parades) that I now get from Hagerty Insurance.

Grundy's coverage looks to be similar to Hagerty's. It also looks like Grundy's (posted by Horvath) will insure muscle cars (and thus might cover vehicles that have been modified/rodded). Hagerty and Grundy both have an on-line quote form.

Note: you cannot make a cost judgement based on comparison of prices quoted here. The level of coverages might not match and there are different price structures for different cities/states.

Both Grundy and Hagerty allow leisure, non-commercial driving of your vehicle and I think that neither one had a mileage limit. I pay extra for a enhaced towing option (can't be too careful with these old vehicles). My two policies with full coverage (no deductibles and full-replacement of agreed upon values) is $288 per year for two vehicles with $35,000 total full-replacement value (I am in NY state, so this rate might be lower in other locations).

Tim's right about cost ... I'm in New Jersey and my rates are probably a LOT higher than someone who lives in a more rural area! My sister is in insurance and she said my Grundy policy, in Pennsy, would probably be more like $50 per year!!!

Also, my truck is definitely a street rod and Grundy knows it.
