I'm at the point in my project where I want to buy the correct hubcaps for my '60 GMC, these are the 1959 model hub caps, (new 60-66 model year hubcaps did not roll out until 1961, GMC sorta overlooked these items eek ).

How do I go about measuring the size I need. I have the OEM 6 lug wheels but I'm unsure what/where I need to measure to make sure the hubs will fit before I order?

Jake, I think you can just order the 2WD hubcaps and you'll be fine. You have 3 nubs on your wheels so you'll neeed the more "modern" type-not for wheels with clips. I don't think that anyone reproduces the '60 hubcaps with the black centers, but the 59's w/ red centers are available and you're most certainly clever enough to take care of that! grin

If this doesn't take you to the hubcap, go to that link, search by P/N, type in L-199. I'm sure there are other suppliers.

K10,

I liked the picture so much, I used it as a wall paper. Thanks.

I found these, I think they might work.
What do you think?

Dude, they're less expensive from the link I provided and you can see a nice photo of what you're actually getting. Tell you what. Send me the price you'll pay for yours and I'll send you 4 caps! Deal? grin

When I was looking into hub caps for my truck I ended up purchasing a few different used ones off of eBay. I wanted to put early 50's GMC hub caps on my 59 GMC.

They FIT!

As a bonus I now have some cool old GMC hubcaps on my shop wall.

Are you saying that your 60 GMC should have the same hubcaps as a 59 GMC to be correct? Or are the 60 hub caps rare and you are planning to settle for 59 hub caps?

Quite often there are a set of 59 reproduction GMC hub caps on eBay.

I took a quick look around eBay and did find any current auctions, BUT looking at completed auctions......

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...1&item=4523176562&category=34209

I often surf eBay GMC parts and these keep showing up. Buy it now price of $135 and usually an opening bid around $95.

Just to let you know I have no relationship with this seller, just passing along information from one truck guy to another. The seller does have a 100% feedback rating though.

No, The correct HC for my 1960 truck should be the 1959 caps. GMC overlooked designing a new cap for the new truck until 1961. That cap is very rare also.

59 is a one year only cap. 60 is a one year only cap. They are the same cap with the exception of 59 being red around the letters, and 60 is black around the letters. You will see examples of both caps earlier in this thread.
