I have a 1948 Loadmaster 1-ton that is sitting on a 1985 1/2ton 4WD chassis. I understand they didn't make a 1-ton pickup bed until 1950, but I am not sure of the differences between the 1-ton pickup bed and the 1/2 ton. Can anybody help?

As far as I know, the one-ton beds were made for all years of the ADs. My '49 3800 has the factory one-ton bed on it and it's 9 feet long and has an additional set of stake pockets.

Both the frame and the bed are significantly different on the one tons from the half and 3/4 tons.

Hope that helps,
John

My 48 1-ton has a 9ft bed (end to end measurement is 9ft 2in).
I can get the other measrements soon if you want.

Another 1-ton truck cool (even if it is on a newer chassis smile

Thanks for the help. You guys are talking about pickup beds, not flat beds or stake beds, right?

Chevy was making a 1 ton with a pick-up bed in 1941.

Iam not sure if this applies but my 54 one ton probably came with a pickup bed .It now has a home made flat bed. Any way in 54 they had two different wheelbases. Mine is 9 feet from just in back of the cab to the end of the frame. It is the long wheelbase but the made a shorter one so they probably made two bed lengths. Are you trying to replace the bed? If so you will need to find one that fits your frame. Hope this helps.
