The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area General Truck Talk Early/Late 49 Oddity

My 49 1/2 ton has all of the evidence to make it a "late" 49, "Chevrolet" and "3100" badges on the hood, door weatherstrip in a metal track and a build date of August 49. Now I find out the hard way (the late version I bought doesn't fit) that the headliner is the "early" 49 style with screw in center channel. Has anyone run across something like this before?

I don't know how much of an oddity that you have. I have noticed some of the same things on my 49. Early this and Late that. More then likely we are just the mid 49's that used up the left over stock of parts from the early version. All the years that I spent selling auto parts I learned that there is one truth in the auto industry. They will use what ever fits it don't matter what year it is supposed to fit.
