Posted this yesterday after the show in Monterey but forgot to put magic word "pix" in the subject line so maybe some of you who enjoy pictures missed it. For what it's worth:

The show ($25 to get in, cash only, and no re-entry; what a rip-off) was big on noise and busty babes, small on cool rides and trade booths. The bass from the lowriders' sound systems blew my fillings out from a mile away. Anyway here's a (very) few pics. You might see something you like. Or not.

A couple of years ago I was in the Monterey area and saw that there was a car show going on at the fair grounds. Trouble was I could only see a couple of cars from the outside and I wanted to know how many cars were in the show before I paid some outrageous fee to enter. The guy at the gate said he didn't know how many cars were in the show and wouldn't let me get a peek to see what I was paying for. I decided not to go in and later found out that there was only about 30 cars in the show. I think its probably the same guy who puts on these shows to make a few fast bucks on passerbys. He probably contacts some local car club to come over and offers some free soda and all the air they can breath. Sorry you got ripped man. Cecil.........

You're right Cecil, it was at the fair grounds and the vehicles were from just three or four local clubs. I was driving by and saw some old cars parked among all the modern stuff outside; stopped and asked someone going in what it was. Car show, he said. I was with my wife and she said go on in, you'll enjoy yourself. Dead-eyed gal at the gate said 25 bucks cash to get in. Only had 24 on me so I was going to escape but my wife gave me the extra buck! I guess she wanted to go see her boyfriend! wink Boy what a waste of time and money. They say you learn from experience, so I hope anyone around here who reads these posts will learn from mine and not get ripped off at the Monterey fair grounds. I'm kicking myself because I had a hunch it was going to be crap, but I could see a Stovebolt from the gate...

Whaaat? So you're gonna pass on the opportunity to do gullwing doors on the Silverado? And to put it on gold spoked Daytons and hydraulics, and airbrush chesty gals on the tailgate, and fit fifty-way adjustable buttoned velour seats and triple chrome cup holders and dummy spotlights, and paint a Madonna (no, not the singing one) on the dash? Man, what a waste of a classic truck!
