For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 3 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 3 | Hi Guys and Gals, I know that an El Camino isn't really a truck, but the one my neighbor bought has had a 292 (truck engine) swapped into it. We need to find an oil pan for it and I'm not sure what to look for or where to find it. Are there different pans for this engine? Will a pan from a 250 fit it (probably not due to longer stroke)? This one has a rear sump. Any suggestions and/or interchange info would be welcomed. A new pan would be great if some one could point me towards a resource, as I'm kind of new to old Chevys. I haven't played with Chevys since 57s were still common family vehicles. I have, however owned 2 trucks with the 292 and they were both the best, most indestructible engines I've ever driven! One of them actually went over 800K without a rebuild or problem when I had to dump the truck due to RUST. Still ran like a top. Thanks, Gene
