There have been a few posts about how hard it is to find brackets for 292 engines. Here's what I ended up doing for my mid 70s vintage stock 292: If you get a 250 bracket for mounting PS pump above the alternator, the bracket will fit on the 292. Only problem is the pulley is lined up with the same groove as the alternator (inner most groove on water pump pulley). I cut the outer part of the upper bracket off and rewelded it in a position to put my pulley 1 inch further forward so it lines up with the next groove. The tensioning arm has to be bent too, but that's pretty simple. If you have a hacksaw and MIG welder, the whole job can be done in less than an hour. 250 brackets are easy to find too. Hope someone can use this tip- it sure helped me.
