Ok i am almost done with the bottom of cab, I keep looking at the gas tink inside the cab. Dang gone it Ben get it out of there. Great tank been pressure tested by me no leaks. Anyway I do not like the prices (under the bed) the magazines say they are worth.

What are my options, I have an extra racing fuel cell, my speed shop guru says he'll build one around $210.00 if I remember right. Buy a used mustang tank or what have you guys done??

Your right not wanting to be the first one to the fire

I took out the spare and put a NASCAR style 22gal there

Now I carry a AAA card instead of a spare

Put a 'lectric pump near to the tank and and a filter in the line....
I found a nice one with a water stripper and it fit nice in the frame

3/8 ID fuel line........

I scrapped a 1978 1-ton chevy van based motorhome and took the 35 gallon (or so) tank out of it. I fabbed a few brackets and fitted/hung the tank under the bed, just behind the rear axle. The filler spout is run out the back on the left side, just under the rear bed support. My original tank was trash when I bought my truck and I had the other tank so I made it work. I never liked the idea of a gas tank in the cab.

Popkorn - I used an 18 gal tank from an first gen camaro behind the rear axle of my 54. The same would work for your 59. Another option if you want longer legs (more gallons) is to use a 69-70 Mustang tank (20 gal) which can be had off ebay for less than $150 complete with sending unit. You might have to ohm down the sending unit so your guage reads correctly but that is easy to do.

Other options depend on how you have routed your exhaust but the side tank from a 73-up half ton Chevy can be made to work also.

Thanks Guys: I'll print this off after a few more ideas. darn't I aint tight ok yes I am but I know there is things out there that "I" can make work just needed a little direction.

I do like the idea what ever I get, to run the filler neck up to the floor and then use the billet plate and gas cap. Simple and easy to fill.

The fuel vapors from my behind the seat gastank are usually quickly dispersed by the exhaust fumes that come through my firewall...

The under bed gas tank in my '48 is coming out to fix a leak on its top. I hope it's the sender gasket. If not, I might have to get another one since this one has already been sealed with Bill Hirsch's stuff. I'll keep driving it using 6-gallon boat gas can in the bed.

see, that's what ya get for buying one of them little trucks. in cabover land ya can bend the hose from the bottom of the carb that runs to the firewall mounted air cleaner and just pour in the gas from a fruitjar. speaking of fruitjars, anybody seen richard simmons lately? i have a 50 gallon between the rails tank that i rescued from an ambulance. interested? of couse ya gotta do a 2nd mortgage on the house to fill it.

Also just called CCP Classic and ordered all my disc brake hardware, remote filler, stockpedal brake booster kit.

Any ideas on where you'll mount the tank and what differential you will use?

(BTW -- did you mean CPP or CCCP ?)

Norse My man: 5 lug, the tank will fasten to the back rail after a little mod, already got a 1969 Grand prix axle rear end bolted up perfect.

Classic Performance out of Calif. they had a sale on everything I needed. Nice guy I talked to didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need.

My brother-in-law just located a 71 Blazer tank for me but my wif's cancer has put the brakes on EVERYTHING! Gotta earn the money to pay the bills, be a full time nurse and a full time secretary now. No time or money to put into the old 'bolt' now. Probably won't be for quite some time to come.

My truck is a one ton with a home made flat bed so I bolted a twenty gallon water tank under the side of the bed on the left side in front of the back wheels. A stick will work for a gas gauge.
