Howdy, Don't wanna wear out my welcome too quick, but have a couple more questions I'm hoping you folks can help me out with.

#1...Are the front inner fenders the same or different between the '53 and '54 models? I've found replacements for up to '53 and then '55-'57, but none specifically mentioned for '54.

#2...Are the front fenders on a '51-'54 GMC similar enough to a CHevy '54 to swap? I may have found a donor cheap (as in haul it outta here it's in the way cheap). But wanted to find out if I'll be able to use any of it before I go through the hassle of dragging it home. Not that it's going anywhere anytime soon anyways.

Think that's it for now. I'm sure I'll have many more as I delve into the pit that's out in the shop smile

Thanks,

The answer to the first is

1. Are inner fenders the same from 47-54 - Yes they are.

2. Can't say for sure if GMC fenders can swap for use on a 54. The key change on the 54 fenders is the inside corner of the fender is rounded. If the 54 fenders are rounded in that area then they can probably be made to work with a lit finesse. You can always transplant the corner from your 54 fenders to the GMC fenders to make them work.

Good luck.

Thanks once again. I was worried there about the inner fenders. Mine are toast and are going to need to be replaced. One has been altered to clear a 350sbc exhaust manifold. Unfortunately the surgery looks like it was done with an air chisel frown

The '54-'55.1 Chevy and GMC front fenders should be the same. The decent pair I pulled off of my '55.1 Chevy parts pickup look exactly like the disintegrating ones on my '54 GMC.

My expert parts man agrees the inner panels are
the same. He says the GMC fenders are the same
if you fill in the park light hole. smile

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

'54-'55.1 front fenders are different from the '47-'53 models, Wrenchbender. Chevy and GMC used the same parking lights in those two years.

So....

The inner fenders are the same, the fenders are only slightly different.

Why doesn't the front clip off of a 49 fit on my 54?

It just won't line up but it does look cool with the one piece windshield and the old style chrome grill.
