I was scrounging through a new junk yard today, one of thoes U-PULL-It yards. I was looking for a power stearing pump, lines and box when I stumbled on an 81 GMC Van Dura 15 van. Now I know that the power stearing set up will not work on my 66 C10 but the amazing thing I found was a pristen automatic stearing colum. My Question is will it work in my 66? Oh and I did find the power stearing set up to which will be pulled from an 81 1/2 ton on Sat.

Congratulations on your find. Don't rule out the power steering setup working for your '66 C-10. A factory GM power steering gear box, pump, brakets, hoses and hardware from a '67 through '89, I believe will fit on your '66. You will need a power steering adapter kit for a bolt-on application. I have done this on my '66 C-10 and on my '66 K-10, utilizing the adapter kit. They are available from REZ Engineering, Classic Performance Products, Classic Industries and many other aftermarket truck supplies. I bought one of my adapter kits off of eBay. They consist of two steel plates, nuts, bolts and washers to install the factory GM equipment without welding or modifying your frame. You do have to drill two holes in the frame and drill out one of the threaded ears on the power steering gear box.

With regards to the steering column, I am not sure which GM columns are bolt-in applications for the '66. I just pulled an automatic steering column from a '68 Impala out of my '66 K-10, installed by the previous owner, that is being replaced by a factory original automatic shift steering column and assembly I bought on eBay from a '66 C-10 donor truck.
