Iirc, the 6 lug wheel has a smaller center than the 8 lug. The older caps fit in the center with clips, the stock caps on yours fit over the center on some lugs stamped in the wheel.
I could get you a measurement on the 8 lug wheel this evening, if you need it. I've got some stock 6 lug wheels, too, but they're out back and it's been raining since yesterday morning.

I just liked the bow tie in the center on the dish type cap... stumblin' through the swap meet I came upon them... got me to pondering.
Thanks folks.

Worked great, looks great. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,897 Socket Breaker | | Socket Breaker Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,897 | Hey Fred T, thanks, I'll measure my wheel later.

The edges look funny on the cap because they are for a 3/4 ton and are larger and deeper than 1/2 ton caps. They are also very hard to find, I had been looking for over a year for a set. I don't think they'd fit a '65 as you definitely need clips to hold them on. Kevin | | |
