on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 16 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 16 | Hey guys, I'm new to the site, so hello to all. I could use some help in upgrading the engine in my Apache. I have the 235 six cylinder. Is there electronic ignition upgrades for this engine? Also, I have the Rochester one barrel carb. Are there any upgrades that will work better? I don't need more power, I just want it to run smoother and be more reliable. Any help would be appreciated. I have seen posts on this sight were you can put a HEI from a 250-292 on them. I,d like to try it. I like the model B carb myself but a lot of the bolters run them down. They sugest the carter. I think the roch. monojet is good.A little tempermental though. Welcome to the Stovebolt websight. It is great. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 328 Member | | Member Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 328 | Welcome, where's Ganado, TX? | | | | | | Anonymous Unregistered | | Anonymous Unregistered | here you go, Ganado: 90 miles southwest of Houston, 109 miles north of Corpus Christi, 139 miles southeast of Austin and San Antonio. tony'n weatherford | | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 328 Member | | Member Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 328 | | | | | | Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 252 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 252 | Hey crabb, Did just what you're trying to do, on my '61 Apache with 235.... The Pertronix ignition kit you need is #1168, takes about fifteen minutes to install, and makes a world of difference. Keep your old points and condensor in the glove box in case you ever have trouble on the road with the pertronix. I installed the Holley/Weber 2 bbl from Langdon's stovebolt, with the water heated choke. Again, a world of difference. The Pertronix was around $85.00 as I recall, and the carb, with necessary linkage kit and manifold adapter plate was just under $100.00 from Langdon's.... www.stoveboltengineco.com | | |
