Bartender -- A round for the house on me!

Just wanted to post and introduce myself. I bought my '51 when I graduated high school in 1988. It's followed me through living in 4 states, and had a brief appearance in the movie "White Palace" (ah, Susan Sarandon wink ...) when I parked it outside of a bar in St. Louis.

Now she's in serious need of a "rust-o-ration", and I'm about to begin disassembly. To kick off the project, I found a 1951 license plate on the unmentionable auction site numbered "93-911". HAD to have it, as I married my wife in '93, on 9/11 grin . Not sure Kentucky will let me register that plate for the street, but I'll figure something out.

If the rest of my rebuild turns out as well as that, I'm in for some good times. Keep telling the wife -- "Ten more years, and ten thousand more dollars, and I'll have a five thousand dollar truck." But I ain't planning to sell 'er, anyway!

Cheers,
mark.

Welcome to the Stovebolt board. Lots of great info in all the forums here. Just ask any question and you'll get lots of answers - some of them might even be right.

Mark,
Welcome to the Stovebolt Page. You will be able to get a lot of information from this site, as you go forward with work on your truck. I just finished a 2 year frame off restoration on my '56, and it really helped having fellow bolters to talk with and ask questions when I needed. Since you've had your truck for a number of years, you are familiar with it, and how you want to go forward with your restoration. If you need help, here is the place to come.

Welcome Mark!!!

Especially to a Blue Grasser! (Even if it's Fayette County... You and Jeff Nelson ought to hook up and talk bad about me -- I claim Scott County citizenship)

As has been aptly put above, there's lots of info here, both on the other parts of the site, as well as stored up in the noggins of all the other Stovebolters here in the Forums. If you haven't already, be sure to cruise around the menu bar at the top of this page (just above the logo of the '49 1.5-Ton truck I found in a tobacco barn in Mt. Sterling and that's currently undergoing a frame-off resto).

Lastly, send us some pictures and a writeup about you and your truck for our Gallery. You can email that to editor@stovebolt.com and we'll get you up for the rest of the world to see.

Thank goodness for another Kentuckian -- Pretty soon we'll be able to take on the Texican Contingent!

Regards,
John
