This is the 3erd old Chevy truck that I've had in the last 30 years and they've all been used for work. 1964 C10 short step, 283 SM 420, 3:73 posi. 1965 C10 longbed fleetside, 350, turbo 400 4:11 rearend. 1965 C20 Custom Camper, 305, SM420, 4:56 rearend. All 3 were basket cases and I rebuilt them and drove them ????? miles in 30 years. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 328 Member | | Member Joined: Nov 2004 Posts: 328 | Welcome to the best place on earth | | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 112 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 112 | Welcome to this site. Been around old trucks all my 39 years. Been a gearhead and a mechanic and a poor country boy that long, too. I have learned a whole lot in a short time here. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | yeah, welcome home! Welcome to Stovebolt.com. I like seeing others interested in the '65 &'66 trucks. I bought my first '66, C-10 in 1981 at the ripe old age of 16. That one got me through high school. I sold that one to my neighbor and bought a '65, C-10, one owner that got me through college. After restoring it in an autobody class my senior year of college, it was stolen. My third was a '66, C-10 I purchased in October. Peg was kind enough to put my photos in the Gallery. Make sure you submit you pics and description of your truck for inclusion in the Gallery. My fourth was a '66, K-10 I purchased in November, followed by my fifth, a '66, C-20 I bought in December as a parts donor truck.
The trucks are hard to get out of your blood. I just turned forty in February and I would rather work the entire weekend in my shop tinkering with my 66's than run around with the fellas. I also feel better the next morning. Good luck with your trucks and welcome aboard. | | |
