So what's your opinion?

I ask. . . Is it the right thing to take apart A fFEW nice old trucks to make ONE? Especially if, like many , they are to be "hot Rodded"?

I say, buy fiberglass bodies or repro sheetmetal if you're gonna put 'em on a modern frame with modern running gear!

If its a "restoration" , then restore! Don't destroy while you do it . . . I say! If you're after a 100 PT restoration, then you're probably as crazy as me, as you'll never get your investment back anyway on most early, avearge model Stovebolts! Even if they are "show" quaility jobs!

If the parts truck you find is not just one or two parts left, then SAVE IT! Don't trash two or more to make one!

Whats your opinion? Just me and mine, sitting up here in Vermont watching the the old metal rusting away!

If it's a choice of cannibalizing two to make one, or leaving two to rot in the field, I say go to work on it.

Bird in hand worth two in bush...

Is anybody making a fiberglass 1947 Chevy panel body?

Hmmmmm, Good thought.
Along with the ideas already listed I'll throw in a pet peeve of mine  That is the old truck that has been in the field slowly rotting away. 20 years ago it was a rebuilder, 10 years it was showing age and now it probably isn't worth taking home. All the while the owner would not even talk to anybody about selling it because he was going to do something with it someday. Another one lost. If you have one rotting that is worth working on and you can't take care of it, or don't have time, LET IT GO! Threre will be others when the time is right.

Buddy :o

When I restore my COE, I'll be using a 52 and a 53.I will end up with a complete keeper but will also have a nearly complete but running cab&chassis too.Have'nt decided what to do with the latter.Either sell, keep for parts or,if I really get ambitous and rich, I will restore this one too grin .

I have 2 original trucks, the '41 I just posted and a '46 that I just bought. If I had tons of money to throw away then yes both trucks could be restored. I don't have tons of money so I will be taking the best parts from both and making one nice truck. I'm not going to trash what's left over though. I could just save all the pieces as spares for the nice one or it would make a nice street rod truck. Either way I'm not going to sell or destroy the rest of the parts. I'll probably put it together as a somewhat whole truck and store back in one of my sheds.

I agree with buddy, their are way to many trucks laying out in the fields that the owners are gonna fix "someday"....just my thoughts
