question is how hard with it be to recover? seat still rides good, only 1 small hole in drivers seat and cover is faded, ideas and thoughts on hard to recover? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 9,671 | I don’t know just what kind of a job you are looking for but here are a few picks of the Spanish grain that I put on mine. If your old seat is still firm and it’s only the cover your looking to replace about all you will have to redo is the cotton batting. Before you order the cover I would suggest taking it to an upholstery shop and seeing what they want to do the whole job. The cover from JC really didn’t fit all that well, there was to much material and it was impossible to install it with out some wrinkles. The only way to fix it would have been to break the seams and re-sew it. Next time around I’m gonna order the material and have a local shop sew it up. http://rides.webshots.com/album/555161678EhIoCb?start=120 http://rides.webshots.com/album/555161678EhIoCb?start=96 Denny Graham Sandwich, IL

I also got the padding kit. very easy to do. go here http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=168060 and follow the installation part and you will have no problem. This is a wonderful tutorial in upholstery, I have down loaded the whole thing and printed out a copy for future reference. However without the one major tool, that being an industrial sewing machine, it’s kind of impractical to try and do what he demonstrates in the article. If I had access to the proper sewing machine when I installed my “JC Spanish Grain” seat covers I would have certainly ripped a few seams and re-sown them to make them fit correctly. Yes the new cotton batting is a must and the padding kit I got had about twice as much cotton than is really needed if your replacing the original. Luckily the frame and woven excelsior underlayment on mine was in excellent shape and I could re-use it so all I had to do was replace the cotton and cover. It’s documented in the pictures I think.
