Any ideas on where to go? This is a second ride for him so it doesn't get driven that much, but as soon as the classic insurance companies hear he's 18 they add $$$$. If I don't tell them an 18 year old would drive it I don't think they'd cover it if something happened.
I'm sure I'm not the first to have this problem and I know it's not a Engine issue, but I hoped someone could point me the right direction

It's getting hard in California to even get basic coverage for anything old. My friend has a 60 olds 88 and can't get covered without first getting it "inspected" by a licensed shop,(we are both ASE master techs,we aren't qualified they told him) and then it the vin has to be verified by the highway patrol in a letter to the insurnace agency. (which costs money they don't do it for free on CHP letterhead) His car isn't a salvage and it's been registered every year since new in California. Sucks, I guess he went shopping around after hearing what the first place told him and found a company that doesn't have those rules but he told me three company's wouldn't even insure vehicles that old. | | |
