Now putting interior together and need to install the lock (which I sent to a locksmith to re-key to match the GM ignition switch I am using)into my freshly-painted glovebox door. I can't for life of me see how to disassemble this lock so I can put it on the glovebox door. The "plunger" that protrudes up from the cylinder (and holds door in place when locked) keeps me from removing the nut/lock washer. Help me before I throw this thing in the weeds! Just as it gets to the end of the unlock turn, turn it slightly more as you pull the cylinder out of the lock. The cylinder comes out and the latch disengages from the other end. That allows you to install the lock shell in the door and than insert the cylinder into the lock shell, with the latch in the right spot on the inside, and turn the lock to the locked position and it should be back together. Now, this better work because I just did it with mine and it worked! Good luck and let me know how it goes!! Joe

I can't see any clips that hold it in and the key only locks or unlocks it, cylinder does not come out.

Now, the problem with mine is, the little die cast .055 x .306 x .719 plunger that trips the lock paul is broken in half. Do you think a lock smithe would have a replacement plunger? It would be easy enough to make from a peice of alum round stock except for the wedge that sticks up at the front end. I hate to spend $35 on a repro replacement lock.
