Does anyone know if it is possible remove a dash ina AD truck? My 53's dash was butchered, and I have a scrap 50 to switch with. Anyone know?

So it IS possible..you did it! I just sold a 54 dash to a fella in Florida..he was going to do the same thing you did.

Its def possible but you need alot of patience with the multitude of spotwelds that need to be cut out.
Depends on how that donor dash was cut out.
If it was cut GENEROUSLY, off the cowl section, then it prob. will work
Nowelds will show,everything is hidden,most under the pinchweld for the windshields.

I agree with you about 200%. After cutting one out of a donor rig and seeing at least 8 million spotwelds, I don't see how a person could pull one out and replace it...and still have a truck left. I sold mine on E-bay after seeing someone else do the same. I figured there must be a market for these items...

Among other insane plans, I need to take the dashboard out of my panel. I'd recommend against it, unless it's absolutely necessary. If the dash just needs a patch, it would be much easier to do that then take the whole thing out. In my case, I'll still have the spots from the spot weld cutter to line the dash back up.

Now that I think about it, I have two '54 Chebby dashes that I need to get out and sell.

That Gentlemen is exactly what this hobby is all about.
Putting stuff thats not avail. anymore back into circulation for other bolters.
When I got my 50 1ton parts truck from Ohio I had to justify the expense/distance and trailer to get it.
Basically complete except for engine/trans/bed
No bottom left on the cab(PO had stored 5bags of fertilizer on DS floor,add ina bad w/shield leak basically draw a line around the cab at thelevel of the lower hinge pockets,GONE was gonna leave the cab there to be crushed,VERY GLAD I DIDNT
Entire roof from the A pillars back to the beltline saved a fellow bolters cab after a tree fell on it
Got really creative with sawzall to the cowl to save the dash and cowlvent area that was swisscheese rotten on another AD
Stuff I was gonna cutup anyway Saved 2 ADs
What justifies doing a job like that is all in weighing in the cost factor for parts and also availability.
In both cases a decent cab with less damage was not available.The one that took the tree hit had already had the rockers/corners/floors repaired and the other only needed a dash panel replaced
If you got the parts/pieces avail.DO IT!
I guess it all comes down to how far you are willing to go to save your truck.

Well you folks have helped me to decide for certain to use an offer I had yesterday of a stripped cab for $20.

Someone can always use the dash out of it if I decide not to use the entire cab.
