One of the things I noticed is that the emergency brake works when you tromp on it, but doesn't "catch". It seems to use an elongated hole on a lever connected to the release to hold it. A quick look didn't show any obvious problems. Is there a trick to getting it to stay engaged?

Truck is now out in my barn, & I'm fixing stuff. The emergency brake release still has me slightly mystified. I'd appreciate any input.

Come to find out, the end of the release rod was against the floormat, which constantly held the brake lever in "release" position.
The fix:
I just unhooked the release rod, then bent the arm that catches on the emergency brake pedal upward slightly. Now it works great!

I took the bent arm and put about 2 or 3 degrees more bend into it. The arm is pretty tough and I had use a small hydraulic press to bend it, but now it works like it did when it was new.
