1. Remote filter head: do you want to use 3/16"x16 (Chevy) vs 3/4"x16 (Fxxd) filters
2. Where will you mount the remote head (firewall or somewhere on the block). This choice will determine if you need a additional mounting bracket (fabricated by you).
3. The length of hoses needed is dependent on where you mount the remote head.
4. Hose fittings and possibly adapters for both ends of the hose (into the block and into the remote head).
The speedway motors site listed above has prices around $18 for the remote head and $25-$30 for ends/hoses. I have seen complete kits at Pep Boys for $25-$30 (hose, ends, and head).

By the way. Is there any problem using a remote remote spin-off filter with a 235 or 261 engine that is set up for a bypass (rather than a full flow) filter?

#16286 09/13/2003 4:14 AM | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | The only problem is that a spin on oil filter doesn't have the restriction that the cannister filter does for the bypass filter, so you need to add one to keep the engine from loosing oil pressure. Someone can chime in with the restriction size; my 261 has the full flow setup.
