I have possibly found a 58-59 235 Engine, Finally. Rebuilt all new parts and guuarantee.

Will the Bell Housing and Fly Wheel from my 216 Engine mount up for "Sure" onto the 235. ??

I just want to verify this so I dont make a mistake in this engine purchase. Thats why I ask.

1942 and later 216 flywheel will fit a 235.

I should of mentioned the 216 is in my 1937 Chevrolet Pick Up.. Thanks for your replies.

If it is a 1937 engine it will have a four bolt flywheel.

216/235 swap

Just replaced/rebuilt my flywheel/clutch/transmission that goes with my 1962 235.

I still have the 9 1/8 flywheel, however, I don't have the original crank, because the 58-62 crank shafts only accept the 10 or 11 inch flywheels.
The inner bolt pattern of the 9 1/8 is different (smaller) from the 10 and 11 flywheel.

I still got an original three on the tree and original torque tube into patricks 3.55 conversion.

That's one way of keeping the original drive line with my '62 235.

The key is to match the crank with the flywheel.
Any size from 9 1/8 - 11 inches will work with the original transmission.
Also make sure that your bell housing still has the original D-shaped (sideways) notch that mates with the transmission below the shaft.
The experienced transmission rebuilder warned me about bell housings that have the d-shaped notch ground out to a full cirlce from trashed transmissions....

The 9-1/8 flywheel from my 1950 216 has exactly the same bolt pattern as the 11" flywheel from my '62 261 and the other '58 235 that I have.

These engines must accept a lot of varied cranks.
Had a hell of a time last month, matching a larger flywheel to my crank. Had to use a 54 235 9 1/8 flywheel.
Runs so good when all new.
