I'm going to the scrap yards this wek in hopes of finding a nice pair of powered bucket seats for my truck. It's all a matter of measurements to me ... if they fit, it works. And I'm hoping to find seats that are nice (new) enough not to need any work on 'em.

I've got a set of buckets but not really what I want for 59. I dunno ... I'm just gonna go look around at 3 different yards and see what I see, think about it, and hopefully something will get me excited.
If I don't see anything worth getting excited about, I'm likely to build my own! No kidding.

Saw some nice seats in Astro Vans , only the backs are the types that go up high (I hate that), so nix those -- the cool thing about 'em was they were HIGH off the floor! Nice bases on 'em! Like a pal told me, look at the Lincolns and Caddy's ... he was right ... they are beautiful and very hefty seats, usually with great looking leather and nice padding, etc. ... only thing is they wouldn't allow for any kind of console -- they work like buckets, but they are BIG seats and they're really a split bench seat. I asked the guy about prices and he said any front seat (full bench) out of the Lincolns or Caddy's or the big **** luxury types would be about $100. Not bad! I'm gonna keep lookin' though. I haven't seen anything that I'm excited about yet. I just found out that a nearby town has a large Classics Club and evry Friday night all the old buggies come out and cruise down Main Street! So, tomorrow night, I'm gonna go cruisin' with the pack and see what info I can garner about seats and everything else.

I have know idea how much work or cost. $100.00 sounds pretty reasonable. Heck maybe I could find one of those fancy heated seat for MAWS! popcorn The Truth is Out There (Thank you) | | | | | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 1,271 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2003 Posts: 1,271 | That's a great idea, Popcorn! Heated seats ... I definitely want power controls in the seats I get. My EZ-Wire kit included wires for power windows and power mirrors ... I hate power windows and am putting stock mirrors on my truck, but I thought, "Great! I'll use the power window wires and fuse for my power seats!" I still have 2 more scrap yards to visit ... it rained today, so I didn't go out. Scrap yards are fun, but finding nice seats is a challenge -- everything is always such a mess out there! I'm hoping to stumble across a recent wreck where the seats haven't been exposed to the elements like so many are in the yards. No rush though. All good things come to he who waits, eh?

Thanks, BCM. I definitely check 'em out - sounds like they might be a better choice than the Lincoln types, too -- the Lincoln/Caddy seats, though luxurious and comfy looking, don't leave any room for a console and I'm planning on designing my own console.

He was checking out our Z28, so I asked him if I could look at his interior, explained why, real nice! 60/40 both heated and leather Rachel flipped. Got me thinking about the idea of 2 40 seats I've got to do some measuring. So many ideas from this page I love it. Ben The Truth is Out There (Never hurts to ask) | | |
