on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2021 Posts: 1,430 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2021 Posts: 1,430 | I am getting ready to put my truck away for the winter. It will be stored in a heated (45 degree) garage with no plans to drive it for the winter months.
My current plan is to fill the fuel tank with fresh fuel with a fuel stabilizer added then pull the fuel pump fuse and run until it runs the carburetor dry.
I do have it on a battery tender.
Any other recommendations would be appreciated. | | | | | Joined: May 2018 Posts: 9 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2018 Posts: 9 | To deter critters from chewing up the interior and wiring, I put bars of Irish Spring soap under the seats, dryer sheets in the engine compartment, and stuff the exhaust pipe with steel wool ( don't forget to remove in the Spring).

Something you can read to add to what folks these days are recommending.

Engine oil was recently changed and coolant was new in the spring.
There's still a chance that I will be pulling the engine this winter (see Hi Perf thread) so not planning to go too crazy. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 2,005 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 2,005 | WICruiser, when you have the fuel stabilizer mixed well with the tankfull of gas, run the truck long enough to ensure the stabilized fuel has made its way through the entire fuel system, if the gas that is left in the carburetor has no stabilizer in it, it will start to evaporate and leave varnish behind.

Regardless if pull the engine, I will be pulling the carburetor to inspect the intake manifold and make sure the drain any residual fuel that may be there. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 2,005 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2016 Posts: 2,005 | Sounds like you have it covered.
