I've been watching some YouTube videos of installing the ring gear onto the carrier and some just torque the bolts and others add red Loctite. The directions I followed for swapping to 3:55 gears did not mention Loctite. Also, in the Tech Tips section here, it just says to snug the bolts evenly and then tighten to 50 lbs. I will be changing the gear oil soon (I have 400 miles on the new gears) and I was wondering if I'm OK to remove one bolt at a time, clean well, add Loctite and re-install? Or, is having no Loctite OK on these old trucks? It does look like I should have access to the bolts when the cover is removed.

I have installed a lot of gear sets on new rear axles and have never used Loc-tite on any of them. I don't believe GM ever did either.
