I have a new horn and have got it to work from the connection at the horn relay. Spade to RED and BLACK to horn at the plastic connector. My thought was once I connected the horn relay and got the TAN wire that goes to the steering column in the cab a good ground at the dash... the horn would also work. But it does not. Any thoughts? Bad horn relay?

As far as wire colors and which terminal on the horn and relay is which, that depends on the relay and wiring harness makers.
Once connected properly you should be able to ground the "switch" terminal and the horn should honk.
When properly connected you should have zero volts on the wire to the horn, battery volts to the other 2 wires.
When pressing the horn button you should have zero volts to the horn button and battery volts to the other 2 wires.

I think the RED(hot) BlACK(horn) TAN(horn button) are the standard colors for most year from the 50`s. But its a M+H wiring. I`m not concerned yet by making the connection at the horn button. I wanted the make sure one thing at a time. So the TAN wire coming from the horn relay should be able to make the horn sound with a proper ground? thanks Bill!!
