The drivers side latch needs replaced so I got my stash out and found one identical but the shaft the lock knob attaches is thicker so could it be for a 39 to 46,it looks like it would bolt in but I do not have a lock knob that would fit.
Jeff - A picture or three would speak volumes so we can try to understand your problem.
Perhaps you can post some pictures showing the existing and potential replacement door latches, plus the "lock knob" you mention.
On a slightly different thought, what's wrong with the existing "latch" making it necessary to replace??? The latches do have some parts that can be replaced to restore certain functions, but since we don't know what's wrong with it, we cant offer the best help possible.

Jeff Do you have a photo showing the opposite sides? I rebuilt the latches for my ‘46 and have photos showing the back side of the mechanism. Unfortunately, the opposite side photos are missing from my collection. Also, can you confirm which one is for the ‘37/‘38?
Sparky - The one on the left with stamped "605567" is confirmed as a 1936-38 left (drivers) door lock assembly.

My '37 truck has the latches you show with the flat latch ( clean one on the right ). I know my passenger door to 100% original, and pretty sure the drives is, I installed a '38 door but pretty sure I used the '37 guts. The square portion of the lock is .200", I measured the original chrome turn knob and it to measures .200" square and matches the new replacement one.
Go to bay and look at Rusty Gold Car and Truck Parts https://www.ebay.com/itm/307157796004 . This seller has a nice selection of latches with good photos. Your spare looks to be from a newer truck due to the round latch.

The info posted otherwise confused me. My guess was as you confirmed from the parts catalog.
I took a screen shot of Jeff’s photo and labled the latches “A” or “B”.
The latch labeled “B” somewhat resembles that on my ‘46, but without seeing a photo of the backside to compare with my photos collected during the restoration, I am uncertain.
