Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 50 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 50 | I found an inline 6 Chev engine that I was told is a "rebuilt" 235 from 1962 and hasn't been run for 10 yrs. I got it started with fresh gas from a jug and let it idle for about a minute until it stopped smoking, it sounds ok.
The casting numbers under the distributor are 3769716, the numbers stamped into the flat surface to the left of the distributor are F0112A.
I can't find the block number in my Chev & GMC engine number book. Can someone tell me what this engine is?

The serial number "F0112A" is difficult to decode without knowing the blocks date casting code info. Look for raised (not stamped) single letter followed by a small space, one or two digits, followed by another small space and a single digit located to the rear of the stamped serial number pad.
If you can provide that info, we can better define what year engine you have and possible confirm the serial# as well.
