The valve stems need some lubrication for a long life.
Personally, I am not a fan of modern positive valve stem seals on a 235. They seal too good for the amount of oil that is supplied to the rocker arm assembly in my opinion.
If you were to have the o-rings AND positive valve stem seals on a 235, you will not be happy with the results after a few thousand miles.

If you choose to use them, it's best NOT to also install the O ring seal under the split keepers. I only use positive seals on intake valves, and stay with the O rings and the sheet metal deflectors under the spring retainers on the exhaust valves. The intake guides are subjected to manifold vacuum on the underside, which justifies the positive seals, IMHO.

As to you’lls position related to stem valve seals it makes a lot of sense to me.

They work with the O ring at the top of the valve stem under the split locks to keep oil from puddling on top of the valve guide. If a positive seal that clamps on top of the guide is used in addition to the O ring and the deflector, the guide will be starved for lubrication and it will wear out quickly.
