For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2016 Posts: 26 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2016 Posts: 26 | I have a 49 Chevy Panel with 6 bolt, 6:00 x 16 tires and rims. Super old tires that still hold air. About to be roadworthy. Need to replace with something safe and hopefully cost effective. Would also like something taller at least in the rear (stock 4:11). Any input would be appreciated. Thank you PS I did try a search of the site but was unsuccessful.

They're 30+ or so inches in diameter so you'll be able to travel down the highway faster at lower engine rpm.
The good thing is there are plenty of different brands to choose from on Amazon for about $100 each.

Do i need to seal the rims? | | | | | Joined: Oct 2021 Posts: 6,833 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2021 Posts: 6,833 | Not if they're in good shape with no rust inside. Make sure the beads are smooth and true.
A friend of mine had some '58 Cadillac Sabre wheels that are riveted together. They wood gradually leak air through some of the riveted areas.
He painted the inside of all the wheels with Flex Seal and hasn't had any leak downs , since.
