A mid-summer event heads up.

Here's the flyer and an open invitation to all to come enjoy the 53rd Annual Show-N-Shine sponsored by the Genuine Chevy/GMC Truck Club of Kansas City on Saturday July 25th, 2026 at the Kansas AG Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, KS.

See the flyer pics for registration details for folks that want to come show off their trucks or just attend as spectators. Registration and spectators gate opening at 8:00am.

Address and map to the site are also provided.

Last years event was reduced from the record year in 2024 because of rain, but we still had 80 vehicles entered and shown. Hoping to exceed that this year and look forward to seeing any Stovebolters that may be able to come attend!

Note: We are aware that there's a brand new competing event for this weekend that was just posted by Tom H (Bolter 1954MI). Will be hard to choose, but those of us that are Bolters and Truck Club members already committed to running our sponsored show will likely being staying in the KC area for our event.

Thanks for the info, Dan! I wanted to attend last year but the wife scheduled a family event that same day.
This year I will be able to attend and may stay in the area Friday night so I can be at the show early.
I just need to decide what vehicle to bring.

Just checked and am planning on attending this event with something to show.
I’m thinking the 54 Pontiac would go well at a car show.

Here it is a couple years ago when I pulled in out of the back of the shop after about a 15 year sleep.
With all that dust it must be worth some money?

Don - Registration for folks presenting vehicles for the show begins at 8:00am. Myself and the rest of the Truck Club Members will be there earlier to get everything set up for the show.

PS - If you look at the back side of the flier above, there are folks you can call and pre-register with. Looking forward to seeing you again this year.

Just two days before the big Show-N-Shine event on Saturday.

I missed the last Truck Club meeting, so no idea how many registrants we already have, but hoping for a better than last year turn out.

Weather is supposed to be very cooperative - fingers crossed and hope to see fellow KC and surrounding area Bolters there!!!

Car is loaded on the trailer and ready to head to Bonner springs Friday afternoon. Spend the night at a local hotel and be at the show by 9am Saturday.
Dan, will we be able to park and unload in that back gravel parking area again? And what time will the show be over?

Forecast is calling for Sunny sky and high about 95. It may get a little warm Saturday.

Don - I’m sure if you grease the palm of the bearded guy at the gate, you’ll surely get preferential treatment to bring your Pontiac in for unloading.

Had a great time today meeting up with some other MBA folks and meeting new frends at the show. But sorry, I forgot to take any pictures.
Also chatted up the fall MBA Roundup at Mongo’s Garage with some folks.
Maybe next year I’ll take the 3804 one ton?

I enjoy a carshow where the hoods and doors are open, you get to see details you normaly miss. like in the Pic below. the small fuse box.
It says "stop and tail light Fuses".
it was on an advance design (47-55), I do not remember the exact year. I also noted a simular box on a yellow truck of the advance design.

is there a couple glass fuses under the cover?
I assume Chevrolet did away with small fuse panel when they came out with the light switch with integral breakers.

Rock, that 2 circuit fuse box, (yes it has two) glass fuses under the cover. It was used on 1950 and later trucks. Prior to that, there was a 5 circuit fuse box, for Stop, Tail, Park, Low Beam, and High Beam. Apparently either the engineers at GM decided that fuses weren't needed for the latter 3 circuits, as there was a circuit breaker on the headlight switch. Either that or the bean counters prevailed.

Sorry to be so late to get to reporting on yesterday's super show event. Even though we hit a confirmed 100 F (with a 114 F Heat Index) yesterday, we still had 102 vehicles that strutted their stuff for the Show-N-Shine yesterday. A nice bump of more than 20 vehicles from last years event. Lots of Chevy and a few GMC trucks of many vintages were present. I'll add pictures for folks to see in the next coupe of posts.

I got there at 7:30am and there were already about a dozen "early" vehicles looking to snag the few all day shady spots. Long time attending folks know where and when to be - hahaha! With the heat and everyone in agreement, we called the show an hour early at 2pm with the awards ceremony, and folks skeedaddled pretty quick from there.

It was great to see and visit with several old Bolter friends, and even better to meet Rock49, a local Blue Springs 'Bolter, for the first time. He spotted Steve's (KCMongo's) logo and Steve and I happened to be chatting when he walked up and introduced himself. Looking forward to meeting again in the near future and hopefully he'll be able to attend the MBA Roundup in September. In answer to your question Rock, the AD series trucks switched from a 5 glass tube fuse box in 1947-49 to the 2 glass tube fuse box for 1950-55.1 (First Series).

BTW Don, Tim "57 Drifter" saved the blue camp chair you left behind and gave it to me for safe keeping. I'll bring it to the Roundup to help it find its way home.

Although I did not take any pictures, I found this u-tube video somebody took and posted that shows every Car/Truck entered.
Yes, I got lucky a shagged a spot under the trees and a nice breeze blowing on us most of the time. And yes, it was hot!
The 54 is at the very beginning and the very end with me chatting with a retired LEO that had a really nice Firebird parked next to me.
The Pontiac is the only car that that had a board holding the hood up.

Here's the first of three batches of pictures I was able to take while wandering the show from duty spot to duty spot. We'll begin with the Host Truck Club's Truck of the Year - Dave Moore's '53 Chevy 3100 that's just recently back from doing the Power Tour again this year. Then there's several other Truck Club owned trucks plus some overview pictures as folks rolled in and got set up in the main show area.

Here's batch two, featuring the Show-N-Shine Central operations hub, many really nice participant trucks of various year groups and one regular nostalgic participant parked right next to the awards table (yes they took home one of the awards ).

And finally, the last group of pictures, which includes multiple shots of my favorite truck of this years show. It's a '49 Chevy 3100 that was just finished by the owner and attending it's very first show. You'll likely recognize it looks remarkable similar to the "Big Bosses" 1949 Chevy 3800 "Charlie". Which is why I nicknamed this fellows truck "Charlie's Little Brother".
