I have gone over the wheel and master cylinders, and they are ready to go.

I pulled out the master cylinder/pedal mounting bracket, and it seems to me that there is more slop than I expected in the movement of the pedals on their pivot shafts.

The two manuals I have been able to find indicate that there are removable plugs for adding lubricant in passenger car applications, but neither mention lubrication options for trucks…and I can’t find any “removable plugs”.

The number stamped into the bracket is 475811 which is called out in the MPC as being for ’36-’46 “All ½ TON COMM> (3 SPD.)”

Suggestions?

When I did mine, I removed the end clip for the clutch pedal and used a small drift to punch out the pin for the brake pedal. I believe it punches out from the bottom up and you slide the large pin out to release the pedal. I did mine a while ago, but I think I also replaced the bushings?

FYI - I had an issue with my master cylinder. Make sure both holes are clear of debris. My bypass hole was blocked and the brakes would not release properly. Just something to check if you have your MC out.

John,

While I was redoing my master cylinder I read your posts about the bypass hole being blocked and made sure that it was clear. Your post may have saved me some real stress!

Are the pins circled in blue in the attached photo the ones that should be driven out if one is to replace the shafts and bushings?
It looks as though they may be tapered pins. Is that the case?

I only remove the pin that holds the brake pedal. The clutch pedal should slide off when you remove the end clip.

My mistake was getting the bracket powder coated. I ended up filing some areas so they would fit back together. Looking back I should have just spray painted with a rattle can or just left it alone.

But with the powder coating it sure looks good!

New bronze bushings, line up the hole with the bushings or drill one and a drop of oil in the cup
