I have a query about differing fitments / styles of some GMC Hubcaps.
When I bought my 1940 GMC Half ton pickup, it came with 5 x incorrect early 1930’s 16” Artillery wheels on it, (white in color) and 2 x GMC Hubcaps. These wheels do not have clips and it appears that they never did have either.
I have since replaced these incorrect white wheels with the correct original steel wheels with clips, which I have just bought 3 x used Original GMC Hubcaps for, and they fit the new wheels.
To my surprise,however, although on the frontside the 2 x original Hubcaps look the same as the 3 I have just bought, they are completely different on the backside!
I am wanting to sell the 5 x early 1930’s Artillery wheels and 2 Hubcaps and would be interested to know what years these are from and what cars / trucks they came off so I can list them for sale correctly!
Please see the attached photos of BOTH styles of Hubcaps, with the older style Hubcaps marked with Red Arrows in both photos. Please note, ALL these Hubcaps are original and NOT aftermarket repos!

Surfy - Reading through a couple of my old GMC "Book of Parts" that cover 1939-41 model years I found that there are at least 3 different hubcaps listed for those year GMCs. There is one listed for 1/2 and 3/4 ton trucks, another listed for the GMC 250-300 models and even more listed as "Deluxe" optional hubcaps, including fitting trucks up to the Model 450. Just my opinion, as I haven't put my hands on the different hubcaps at the same time to compare, is you got 2 small diameter caps which are likely to fit the Models 100-150 (1/2 and 3/4 ton) wheels and a couple of the larger truck Model 250-300 wheel hub caps.
Some hub caps in the parts books where listed as fitting 18" diameter wheels, which would clearly need much large diameter caps. Some of our GMC Gurus will hopefully come along and add more info/details to what I've offered.
On the "Artillery wheel" pictured, can you provide more details on it's dimensions? I can't place them based on what I can see.

Interesting to hear that they made different fitments. I am not in the same Country as my truck (!!) so cannot give you any wheel dimensions, other than the fact that they are 16”. They look like the early Artilleries, as I have a set of the 1938 - 1946 Artilleries too, which are different AND have clips. My hunch is that the wheels were off an early 30’s car. The 2 different styles of hubcaps look like they have a very similar diameter to each other. Lets hope a GMC officiando might come onboard this discussion!!
