Does anyone know if there is a marking or serial # stamp on the original factory Chevrolet GM keyed door locks cylinder for the Task Force Design trucks? That way you can tell whether the lock is maybe of a better quality other than the replacement, foreign made, pot metal ones that you can buy from a FLAP. The tumblers eventually become loose and a struggle turning the key to open or lock.

You’d most likely have to look at eBay or a car show swap meet to find the original locks.

all of them are pot metal. the wafers have a retaining clip that needs to be peened down to prevent it from lifting up on one side,
lifting of that clip/metal tab making the lock hard or impossible to turn.

I noticed that on one of them that I removed. I just don't have much faith in the replacement ones. I do get that there is probably very little quality control since they are being manufactured over seas for a small group of consumers. Those of us that are still driving 1950s trucks.

The age of the lock should be noticeable ..or not. But the pot metal was weak back then and probably is now with repops.
