Another late notice of upcoming swap meet in the KC area.
The Ararat Shrine Swap Meet & Show at Independence Center, 18801 E. 39th St, Independence, MO 64507 will be held on May 30th, with gates opening at 7:00 for buyers. Flyer attached below.
Presuming I survive the Good Times Swap Meet on Friday the 29th, I'll try and check this one out too. I could get into a whole bunch of trouble hitting 2 swap meets back to back - Hahaha!
Once again, anyone planning on attending can reach out here if you'd like to try and meet up or watch for that OG in the US Army retired hat and Stovebolt T-shirt.

Well, current weather makes this one probably a no-go for today. Weather in our immediate area, including the swap meet location, is rain at least for the next couple hours.
Gonna wait through the early morning to see how the rain moves (or not) and decide from there if any swap meet time still possible.

Gdads Yep. A No Go. Shame considering how good the day turned out to be. I went up to the Good time swap meet in Lathrop instead. I would have missed it but you mentioned it in an earlier post. Found a set of western mirrors, all in all. A good day. So thank you for the heads up

Rock - Most welcome and glad you at least made it up to the Lathrop Swap Meet and found some goodies. Even though it did eventually clear up, since I'd gone yesterday, I decided to forgo another trip today and knocked out some honey-do list stuff. Helps keep one out of the doghouse if ya know what I mean.
Turns out that perhaps the entire Shriners Swap Meet and Car Show that was scheduled was a bust entirely??? Just second hand info, but a buddy's son had pre-registered and had a contract for a sales spot at the Shriners Swap meet, but when he arrived this morning to check in and set up, he was informed at the gate "a new company had taken over management and all the contracts were cancelled." Was told to leave so he went up to Lathrop and setup there instead.
Gonna have to talk with other local folks to see what anyone else knows about this supposed change in management.
More on this as news develops.

Sounds like a lack of comunication all around. Wonder when the new management took over? Hopefuly they have it resolved for next year, I would hate to see it fall off the calender all together.

So a bunch of folks with more knowledge of what transpired yesterday with the closing of the Shriner's Swap Meet shared that with me today at the Genuine Chevrolet/GMC Truck Club of KC's meeting and picnic.
Turns out the "shopping center/mall" property where the event was to be held transferred ownership recently. The Shriner's reportedly did all they could to transfer the previous contract agreement with the new property owners, including providing essential liability insurance, etc, and was supposedly approved to continue the event.
At the last minute (Saturday morning) the new owners evidently changed their minds and withdrew the approved contract and sent people to turn the Shriner's and vendors away at the gate.
Just a SWAG on my part, but unless the Shriner's find another suitable event space, this may be the end of another long time swap meet event.
