I purchased a generic at a Oreillys but it needs a 1" opening and my opening is more like 7/8"
I'm curious what others may have used or if there is a relatively easy way to resize the dash opening for the generic I purchased.
If I can't find a reasonable alternative I could mount the generic on a bracket under the dash but I would prefer to fill the existing hole rather than adding anything else (I already have wiper, heater, and defront controls in a bracket below the dash. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 3,370 Crusty Old Sarge | | Crusty Old Sarge Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 3,370 | I used a Dorman replacement for a 12 volt power source just as your suggesting. The Dorman 56411 is 7/8", you should be able to find one easily.

I probably will go with the Dorman version if I can find it locally or with reasonable shipping charges. I have run out of parts to order from Classic Parts or Jim Carter that were used in the past to get my order large enough to either get free shipping or at least spread the shipping cost over a number of items. Once I removed the outer shell that screws to the back of the unit to secure it to the dash it fit fine. Feeling really stupid.
All wired in place and functions as intended.
