1947 3100 with 235 engine and 6 volt system. All of a sudden when I turn on the ignition using the key and press the foot starter nothing happens. My battery is full charge. How can I diagnose this issue? Also not of the gauge indicators (needles) move. I believe one needle moves when ignition is on before start up but not sure which one. I don't believe there is a problem with the starter. Wondering if the key switch needs replacing? I know I am a lot of trouble but thanks to all who offer me assistance. ray durham

The starter is directly connected to the battery, so the key switch has nothing to do with why the starter doesn’t operate.

The only thing the key in the on position does is to supply power to the coil and other circuits in the truck.

Showing my lack of knowledge again. I think my battery is bad. Only registered 5.91 with multimeter but worked fine last week. I just took it back to O'Reilly where I got it new on 7/27/25. They will have me a new one tomorrow.

If your truck sits around for long periods of time (or even if it doesn't) I'd suggest keeping it connected to a Battery Tender.
