First thing first
When in 1st gear it pops out before I can shift into escond gear
2nd question
Grinds when trying to put in gear, this is a 3 on the tree.
Any suggestions on what is wrong and how to fix?

Also, the clutch adjustment could need checking. Does it grind in all gears or just first?

When driving it pops out of1st gear before I shift into 2nd gear. Can it possibly be the shifter detent spring, if so is there a place to get one along with a side cover gasket.

Disconnect the linkage rod and push down and see if it goes down farther if it does then its a adjustment issue. He also stated it it pops out of 3rd gear its a imput shaft issue.

Grinding from a dead stop going into gear is a clutch issue - not releasing all the way. Could possibly be that the disk is binding on the input shaft splines, or a bad pilot bushing. Or possibly too much free play before the clutch pedal feels harder. That's an adjustment thing. There's info on adjusting the shift linkages in the service manual. Start here and read the next few pages.

I have two or three 3 speed transmissions to choose from. I am eager to get them off my floor.
